What would the quality of your existence feel like if you practiced unconditional faith in yourself and in Life? Would any of your circumstances change? Might you relax into the joy that comes from feeling you are living the fullest expression of your highest potential? During this week we will explore these “deep” questions with our minds while lightening our spirits with laughter, movement and adventure.
Our yoga practices will be based around grounding and letting go, igniting and creating vitality with the intention to transform whatever arises into faith. Faith is our ability to connect to our deepest sense of self and hear the answers that we need to hear. The second, and often harder part, is having faith that what we hear is the direction we need to go. We will learn specific breathing and energy movement techniques, as well as posture categories, to facilitate this process. In addition to yoga, we will immerse ourselves in the ancient wisdom of the Mayans via ceremonies and cultural exchanges. We have much to learn from these gentle people about trusting the Mother Earth who provides for us.
It can be scary to take a leap of faith…be it committing to giving yourself the gift of a retreat or stepping out of your cultural comfort zone. Our wish for you by the end of the week is that you will have connected with yourself on the deepest level, moved forward on the journey of trust and be very glad that you came. We have created this week to support your transformation in a conscious and loving community.

A sweat lodge purification ceremony includes ritualized practices that connect us with Great Spirit and assist us in finding the power of our own unique voice while releasing all that no longer serves. In a traditional handcrafted lodge heated with hot stones and infused with medicinal plants, we’ll share sacred songs and specially prepared herbal tea to help clear and lift the emotional body, leaving you with a great sense of clarity of mind, openness of heart and physical renewal.
In the traditional Mayan day-count fire ceremony, beautiful offerings are created and consumed, invoking connectivity with source consciousness while prompting us to leave behind our conditioned concept of self and fueling the fire of our sacred life purpose. Resting in the stillness of the fire’s glow, we’re invited to lighten our load and soothe the scars resultant of life’s challenges, cultivating awareness and acceptance of the role we’ve played in the grand scheme of things.

Our outing to San Juan de La Laguna is an opportunity to learn about ourselves by learning from the Mayas. We will venture across the water from our hotel to this mellow village known for its artisans and the pride they take in their craft traditions – particularly painting and weaving. They have developed their own tourism infrastructure to highlight these traditions to outsiders. After wandering the streets in self-guided exploration, we will share a meal and our stories with a Mayan family in their home.

While lying in savasana (corpse pose), many years ago, I felt the most amazing feeling in my body, and my mind was completely absorbed in the ebb and flow of my breath. I realized I was home. This place that felt so comfortable and nurturing was within me and within my reach. How do I repeat this, turned into, how do I share this! It was the beginning of my journey to self realization. A journey that continues to unfold daily. I have trained with many notable teachers including Tias Little , Rod Stryker, and most recently Gary Kraftsow, as well as many teachers that came to me along the way. Each one of them coming into my life at the perfect time. It wasn’t until recently that I realized that each moment is a decision creating the next moment, and I have the ability to create, not only the feeling that I felt so many years ago, but the manifestation of abundance and joy through simple and effective practices. I want to share with you the gift of self discovery and bring you into your own power through the use of yoga, Ayurveda, mindfulness, breathing, meditation, and energy work.
I currently work at the Lifeologie Institute for Psychotherapeutic Yoga (LISPY), where I co-created and teach a 200hr yoga teacher training program. The training is unique, therein, combining both eastern and western modalities of the mind to gain a greater sense of ourselves and ultimately share this knowledge to others as we raise the vibration.
I see clients on an individual basis to help balance the nervous system, create ease in the body, and help them to discover their own unique gifts and wisdom. If you’re feeling stuck I can help!
I also lead yoga retreats throughout the world with other healers, energy workers, and intuitive counselors. We come together to create the energy needed to support grounding, energizing, and transformation through the discovery of Self. Lectures, yoga practices, breathing, energy work, intuitive readings, and meditations, all in the beauty of nature, combined creating the perfect alchemy to hear your inner wisdom and purpose.
I am also a mom of two energetic boys, a step mom to a gentle young woman, and wife to a wonderful husband! What do you call me? Mom, Laura, wife, friend, spiritual teacher, cook, taxi, dog walker, lover of life! My greatest aspiration is to continually recognize the gift of giving and receiving in the smallest of forms. You must connect the souls of your feet to the divine wisdom of the universe through your heart. Breathing in and breathing out.
Gigi changed the job title on her business card from “Tour Manager” to “Facilitator of Conscious Travel Communities” after realizing that her awakening heart would no longer allow her to separate her work life from her spiritual calling. The integration has been a long process. The question “To what is my energy contributing?” lead Gigi to leave her career as a Spanish teacher in Dallas public schools in 2010 and heed an inner voice that for a long time had her feeling unsettled. Her life, according to outward appearances, reflected many of the securities and successes American society expects of a middle-aged woman, but inwardly she felt neither secure nor successful. She wasn’t living out her full potential. So, she gave up her material possessions and landed any place her heart called and the Universe conspired. Some of the most treasured experiences she has accrued during her wanderings include: walking the full Camino de Santiago in Spain, WWOOFing across Chile, working at a hostel while living in a tent on the Uruguayan coast, raising baby goats on a ranch in Texas, couchsurfing the south of South America, leading People-to-People exchange programs in Cuba, apprenticing as a Dream Quest guide, leading Gap Year programs for youth in Latin America, helping out at a conscious community permaculture farm in Tanzania and most recently giving yoga and meditation instruction a go. Gigi calls “home” any place she feels welcome. Since February she has been based around Lake Atitlan, Guatemala as a karma yogi exchanging work for food and lodging.
