Journey with us for a yoga vacation to traverse new roads, meet new people, and explore new ways of being in your body and in the world. Each day we will greet the morning with a varied practice of yoga, pranayama, and meditation and close most days the same way.
In between, we will explore local sites such as the Chi Chi market and town of Santiago. One day we will hike to El Pico De Cielo with local tour guides and enjoy a picnic lunch at the summit.
The Sanskrit word Seva means service. As part of our week we will practice Seva by supporting a local community. There will be plenty of time for integrating your experience with reading, resting, or just hanging out in the lush gardens or pool area at Villa Sumaya. The trip includes three fresh, vegetarian meals each day (meat options are available at an additional cost).
About the Instructors
A Santa Fe based yoga teacher, educator and human being, Jacci feels she has been on a journey of awareness and awakening her whole life. She reflects that she was practicing “yoga” before she ever practiced yoga. This way of being alive and present for every experience is what calls to her most deeply and infuses her teaching. She uses the practice of yoga to see how her habits restrict, distract and cause suffering. Using the skill of witnessing, which she learned from her teachers Yoganand Michael Carroll and Sudhir Jonathon Foust, she is now better able to see her habits and open to her life finding more freedom and joy.
As a teacher, Jacci invites her students to go inside and feel rather than focusing on what the pose looks like. She uses the techniques of inquiry, witnessing and allowing to encourage students to be present with their life in the moment.
Jacci has over 1500 hours of training in a wide variety of yoga disciplines in addition to receiving her Masters of Health Science from The George Washington University. She completed her 200 and 500 hour yoga teacher training at the Kripalu Center for Yoga in addition to completing a second 500 hour certification in yoga therapy (ERYT-500). She is a certified yoga therapist (C-IAYT), registered prenatal yoga teacher (RPYT), as well as a Thai Yoga Massage Therapist.
Jacci is the Executive Director of the Pranakriya School of Yoga Healing Arts as well as Director of their 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training, Basic Prenatal, Restorative Yoga, and Gentle Yoga Teacher Trainings.
Movement, rhythm, and dance have been my primary sources of joy from earliest memory. A childhood injury at an early age, however, made me conscious of what a gift it really was to be able to move freely. The result has been an inspiring journey through life.
That injury brought me to a renewed relationship to my body and to an even deeper, more conscious exploration of the joy—and the health benefits—to be found in movement.
My journey began when I entered my first dance class at the age of four. Years of training led to dance performance and choreography, gradually evolving into a career in the fitness profession. In my late thirties I discovered yoga. This was a revelation, for it proved to be the culminating discipline that enabled me to integrate all my interests. In my personal life, yoga has become my primary mode of self-expression. In my teaching, it becomes one of three pillars: dance, fitness, yoga.
These pillars support what has turned out to be an even more encompassing love: teaching itself. I realized I had a passion for sharing the joy of movement with others. A significant part of my life, now, lies in helping students open to the sources of joy within their own bodies. I take delight in seeing them respond to what is really a simple truth: Movement is life.
In 2007, I became a Certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher. The same year I also finished my studies with the Cancer Exercise Training Institute and became certified as a Cancer Exercise Specialist.
I continue to study with Elise Miller, a Senior Iyengar Teacher, and have certified with her as a Yoga for Scoliosis Trainer.
Among all these activities, I can honestly say that my proudest moment was the deep satisfaction I felt after creating and completing a special video program for cancer patients and survivors: The Next Step, Vol. 1: Restorative Exercises After Breast Cancer.

Experience Profound Freedom
Of all the suffering we experience in life none is more debilitating and unnecessary than the suffering that results from our unexamined beliefs about how things should be. An idea that our life situation should be different, the people around us should be different and perhaps the most unsettling of all, that we should be different.
To cultivate a wild heart is to break free from the prison of shoulds and to not only accept and love yourself but to celebrate yourself and the unique gifts you bring to the world. Only when we are free can we truly create our lives.
You are beautiful.
You are worthy of all that you desire.
You are a brilliant creator with the power to create your life.
Everything you could ever want is waiting for you.
This is your time.
We will meet daily to meditate, write, share, dance, laugh, cry, play and create. Together we will explore, discover, release and celebrate. You will experience newfound freedom to move and be in the world. You will experience profound peace. You will touch the very center of your true nature which is unconditional love itself and it will change everything. You will leave Guatemala with a new family of open-hearted and like-minded souls that have witnessed your journey and held space for your transformation. The connections you will make are priceless.
- The life-changing work we will do together.
- Transfer from Guatemala City to Lake Atitlan and back to the airport on departure day.
- 7 nights double occupancy accommodation at the beautiful Villa Sumaya Eco-Chic Wellness Center. (Single rooms available for an additional $400)
- 3 healthy and delicious vegetarian meals a day.
- Sacred Mayan Rituals and Ceremonies.
- An hour treatment at the Harmony Spa.
- Gratuity for the staff at Villa Sumaya.
It’s my intention to make your trip as seamless and easy as possible. I’ve included everything in the total retreat price including transfers and gratuities so that you don’t have to worry about additional costs adding up as you go. It’s all taken care of and designed with the fullest experience in mind.
The costs not included are your airfare to/from Guatemala and the optional things like added excursions and spa treatments, meals you elect to eat outside of Villa Sumaya, alcoholic drinks, souvenirs, trip insurance and internet (available for $20/week however I encourage you to unplug).
My journey to freedom began over a decade ago when I attended a weekend workshop and discovered that I wasn’t broken. That life-changing moment propelled me along an endless path of self-love and authentic living. In the decade since, I’ve come to know the wholeness of who I am, to trust my intuition for guidance and to believe that I am worthy of what I most desire.
Wildhearted Retreats were born out of this deep knowing and what I have come to call a Divine Download, a vision that struck me and spoke directly to my heart. I have answered that call and am doing the work I am meant to do in this world. It is my passion and an absolute joy!
My approach is one of compassionate investigation. I operate from a basic belief that you are incredibly powerful and perfectly whole. My gifts are in my ability to provide a safe space, to listen beyond what is said and to ask questions that take you right to the heart of the matter. The courage to be honest with yourself and with me is key to your growth and the results you will produce. No one can do the work for you but you don’t have to do it alone. I will walk beside you and lovingly reflect back to you the truth that has always been there wanting to be seen – you are powerful, beautiful and worthy beyond measure.
Villa Sumaya is a place where all of nature sings with the vibration of sacred expansion. When we intentionally open our hearts to the power of meditation further enhanced with the ancient path of plant medicine, we begin to walk anew upon the path of beauty. Please join me for this unique expression of sound healing within the sacred circle. This extraordinary journey of sacrament and song invites us to dive into the unknown in order to recreate ourselves in all-new, bright and beautiful ways.
We will be bringing the relationship between the divine feminine and the sacred masculine back into balance within the loving and receptive container of the divine mother– with ceremonies, integration circles, and heart-opening meditations.
Women, men, couples and families welcome. Childcare is available.

Ashleigh never thought she would end up a yogi, much less a yoga teacher, but she is so glad she did! We can’t always predict how things will turn out, but through yoga we can learn to adjust how we respond. Yoga helps us live more mindfully by connecting the body, mind, and spirit, and it opens our hearts to make more room fo r love. Ashleigh completed her RYT-200 at Highland Yoga, but her journey has just begun. She is enlivened to be a life-long student of yoga asana and yoga philosophy.
Searching for ways to cope with stress and anxiety, Elspeth discovered yoga and was quickly hooked during her final year of law school. She explored a wide array of asana practices before finding her home in Vinyasa.
A classically trained pianist, Elspeth is known for her carefully curated playlists, powerful sequences and intuitive breath cues, all of which intend to compel her students ever deeper into their minds, bodies and breathing.
Elsie completed her 200-hour teacher training in Dallas, Texas at Uptown Yoga and has since taught over 2000 hours of yoga classes accruing her E-RYT designation. Elspeth and her husband John are the founders and owners of Highland Yoga. She received her J.D. from Emory and practiced as a litigator in Dallas and Atlanta before taking to the mat full time.

My journey with meditation began when I was 14 years old, a Japanese friend, Joe, introduced me to meditation. Joe gave me a precious gift, which I will cherish forever.
I am an experienced and registered Meditation Facilitator with ACHS (Australian Centre for Holistic Studies), and a member of the Australian Meditation Association, the Won Buddhist Centre and involved with Kriya yoga.
Star Meditations was born from the passion and joy I receive every day from meditating. I teach and facilitate a variety of meditation methods, to help people reconnect with themselves, balance their energies and create harmony with the divine energies of the universe, in order to control their stress, anxiety and depression levels.
Meditation does not have to be spiritual. Those not interested in the spiritual level of meditation can still meditate and reap all the stress relieving and relaxation benefits. I will teach you to experience life in a more relaxed way to attract a more beautiful, positive energy, which will result in a happier and healthier lifestyle.
Stress slips away and your true nature returns, bringing you Back to Peace, Back to Nature, Back to Bliss!
